CONFLICT RESOLUTION, PEACE AND RECONCILIATION: SANT'ANNA SCHOOL ANNOUNCES A 3-DAY TRAINING COURSE IN LUSAKA – ZAMBIA FOR 25 SENIOR OFFICIALS FROM ZAMBIAN MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, INTERNAL AFFAIRS AND PUBLIC SECURITY
Sant’Anna School plays a more active role and demonstrates great expertise in facilitating multi-level peacebuilding workshops and trainings and ability to liaise with members of Zambian communities as well as senior level officials, including Embassy Officials and government representatives. The EU funded (EU delegation to the Republic of Zambia) training course ‘Conflict & conflict resolution’ will be held in Lusaka upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Zambia.
Under the supervision of Professor Andrea de Guttry, director of Sant’Anna School Dirpolis Institute (Law, Politics, Development), this course is designed for 25 senior officials working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Public Security.
The Republic of Zambia and the European Union enjoy a strong partnership in the area of conflict resolution and security. In line with the Global Strategy for the European Foreign and Security Policy, the training will be dedicated to identifying tools and strategies towards peace building. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Zambia has mandated leadership training for Foreign Service Officers and Embassy Officials to ensure that they have the necessary preparation for increasing levels of responsibility. Zambian leaders reaffirmed their commitment to prevent conflict, fight terrorism and increase efforts to bring development and security in their country. Peacekeeping has been increasingly applied to intra-State conflicts and civil wars. The EU welcomed Zambia's increasingly active role in peace and security in the region and on the continent as a whole.
By bringing together academics and experts from all over Europe, the training program aims at strengthening cooperation and enhance moral leadership through the most effective security strategy that safeguard the fundamental rights of African citizens. The United Nations should continue to prioritize the provision of technical support and guidance to Member States to ensure their PVE and CT laws and strategies are fully compliant with international human rights law. UN agencies should also facilitate or deliver assistance focused on building trust and otherwise, particularly those where feelings of marginalization or exclusion persist.
