IndustrY 4.0 AND DIGITAL CRAFTSMANSHIP: SANT’ANNA SCHOOL “Competence Center 4.0” TO BE PRESENTED ON FRIDAY, 31 MARCH 2017 AT FONDAZIONE PIAGGIO - PONTEDERA

Sant’Anna School “Competence Center 4.0” will be presented at Fondazione Piaggio- via Rinaldo Piaggio in Pontedera on March 31 at 2.30 pm. The aim is to empower the smart factory of the future to renew craftsmanship by incorporating design and production principles towards a complete value chain transformation. Sant’Anna School, as a worldwide hub of open design spaces and facilities, will connect digital craftsmanship with open source machines for digital fabrication required to meet modern day demands: to continually deliver high quality products that may be customised and delivered in the timescales.

Pierdomenico Perata, rector of Sat’Anna School, together with Paolo Dario, director of the Biorobotics Institute, Massimo Bergamasco, director of the  TeCIP Institute (Communication, Information and Perception Technologies), Maria Chiara Carrozza, professor of bioengineering and a member of the Italian parliament, academics from University of Pisa and industry representatives will present the “Competence Center 4.0” to the ‘smart factories’ which will make use of the complete digitization of the value chain. The Internet of Things – total connectivity across a network of intelligent sensors, the processing of Big Data, offering real-time analysis optimized by augmented reality, will support Industry 4.0 which digitizes and integrates processes across the entire organization, from product development through manufacturing, logistics and service.
