This research area promotes studies aimed to explore how new technologies and methods, connected to the Digital Transition, are affecting criminal law and, more generally, the modes of liability and legal instruments to prevent and fight against crime. In that sense, the following issue are significant:

• cybercrime, criminal law regulation of digital environments and artificial intelligence (AI), criminal liability related to the use of artificial intelligence systems within the public and private contexts;
• the use of artificial intelligence and automated decision-making tools in the (public / private / hybrid) schemes of regulation and / or co-regulation of the crime-related risk;
• Data Science applications to foster evidence-based methods in criminal and sanctioning policy matters, within the corruption, organized crime and environmental offences fields.
