The 2017 edition of the training program in the field of asylum and migration aims to present an overview of most recent developments in the humanitarian migration crisis. The Dirpolis (Law, Politics and Development) Institute and the Association for legal studies on migration (ASGI) offer the fourth edition of “The Rights of Migrants” Summer school which will be held on 11-16 September 2017. Registration is open until August 31st.

The 19-21 October 2017 session will address of the rights of migrants and the protection of the refugees referred to as the ‘international refugee protection’ (migrant workers, refugees and displaced persons). The current humanitarian crisis is unprecedented and the number of refugees is unparalleled in recent times. The diversity of motives for migration creates a huge challenge for asylum systems and governments need to develop effective global governance of migration to face issues such as sovereignty, security, discrimination, integration and civil rights.

Participants may take each of the two modules separately. The courses will be limited to 50 students. The Comitato Unico di Garanzia of the University of Pisa is offering two scholarships for participants who wish to attend the 2017 Summer school on “The Rights of Migrants”. For more details you are invited to visit the scholarship webpage.
