On Tuesday, December 19, Sant’Anna School hosts a number of distinguished scholars for a conference aimed to provide an opportunity to discuss current perspectives of international research on law. The debate will focus on the transformation of supranational legal systems introducing a new approach to making international laws effective. As a result of the creation of supranational Courts, the involvement of judges in policy issues brings legal expertise into play; Italian and European Universities focus on the role of Constitutional Courts in shaping domestic politics by reviewing legislation and interweaving issues crosscutting the borders of national legislative and executive processes. Summing up, the need for legal studies is to move from a theoretical discussion to a shared decision-making process by shaping a supranational common language, and improve the quality of international communication.

The conference chaired by Gianluigi Palombella (Scuola Sant’Anna) will include keynote addresses from Andras Sajo (CEU Budapest, Former Judge of the European Court of Human Rights); Giuliano Amato (Corte Costituzionale and LUISS School of Government, Roma); Enrico Scoditti (Corte di Cassazione); Michele Papa (Università di Firenze); Jan Klabbers (Martti Ahtisaari Chair, Helsinki) and Joseph H. H. Weiler (Straus Professor of Law, New York University).
