Thursday 19 April 2018 is the deadline for the training course in “Diritto amministrativo dell’ambiente sul tema dei titoli abilitativi e delle procedure di valutazione ambientale” – Administrative Law, SEA and EIA procedures for public and private projects – offered by Sant’Anna School Dirpolis (Law, Politics, Development) Institute. This course is designed to provide an overview of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), which focuses on physical environmental impacts, and Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) processes for policies, plans, and public and private projects that affect natural resources.

The EIA Directive, to promote environmental sustainability, smart growth, and pollution prevention at the sectoral, regional, and national levels, is in force since 1985. It applies to a wide range of plans and programs (land use, transport, energy, waste, agriculture, etc.). Environmental law over the past three decades has been marked by a proliferation of legislation concerning every area of the environment. Knowledge of administrative law is essential if lawyers or experts want to represent decision-makers and corporate EIA managers effectively.

At the end of the course, participants will learn about Administrative and Environmental law, Enforcement, Government liability, SEA process and legal requirements, integration of SEA into planning (content and extent of the matters to be covered in the SEA report to be submitted to a competent authority).

Emiliano Frediani, professor of administrative law at Sant’Anna School, is the Course coordinator.

Upon successful (minimum attendance rate of 80%) completion of the final exam, participants gain ECTS credits.
