Sant’Anna School will host a public conference on transparency in public administration beginning at 9:00 a.m. on February 8 (aula magna). The conference is open to the public and will be live-streamed via the Sant’Anna School website. The meeting takes place on the third day of the Italian 2018 Open Government Week - Settimana dell'Amministrazione Aperta (5-11 February 2018), an opportunity for public administration and civil society to increase collaboration between civil society organizations and national public institutions. The conference will feature panels on the Open Government Partnership project funded by the Dipartimento della Funzione Pubblica del Ministero per la Semplificazione e la Pubblica Amministrazione (Italian Ministry for Simplifyinng Regulation and Public Administration).

Recent trends in civil society show the emergence of activities and the use of innovative tools that focus on government auditing systems to monitor public resources. This conference will gather academics, civil servants, and high level experts to discuss the role of civic participation for better policy making and improved public governance systems.

The conference will focus on the analysis of the opportunities that are available to build a culture of transparency, values of integrity and accountability in public administrations (the Terzo Action Plan - to serve the public interest with fairness). By engaging with interactive discussions, civil society can effectively participate to improve public services and restore trust between public institutions and citizens.
