Bio
I am a lawyer and a PhD student in Law at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Pisa, Italy) and during my doctoral studies I investigate the relationship between AI and state power.
In my PhD thesis I aim to demonstrate that the use of AI in the criminal justice system could provoke a change in the traditional categories of liberal criminal law and to inquire what kind of changes could be performed. I particularly focus on the shift towards a securitatian criminal law, digital authoritarianism and the use of mass surveillance for purposes unrelated to national security.
During my PhD program, I was Visiting Research Fellow at Fordham Law School in New York City. From January 2024 to April 2024, I will hold the position of Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law in Freiburg (Germany) where I have been awarded a scholarship.
